The task for this university project was to create a set design inspired by a poem.
concept
The inspiring reference is a room at the MIMA in Brussels: a room fully painted creating a very colorful environment that made me think of a metaphorical space of an internal and external self. This space, to be seen from the inside out, represents a moment of concentration on oneself, in which the outside is nullified while the ego is filled with its facets.
The poem – song – connected is “La Cura” by Franco Battiato: a love song that the singer dedicates to his soul.

Project
The art installation consists of three parts: the fabric, the structure, the finishes.
The 1.70×5 meter fabric was spray-painted with the geometric pattern of superimposed stripes in bright colors, painted with spray cans on a semi-transparent cloth.
The structure, a skeleton of a 1.80×1.60 meter cube, 1.80 meters high, is made of 3×3 centimeter slats joined with metal brackets.
The finishes consist of the frame of the fabric, through the black thread, the positioning of the lights and the covering of the exterior with paper.
The main problem encountered in the execution was a problem of space for the execution of the painting and the search for the material for the ceiling, which initially had to be black.
