FemFest is a festival organized by the LatoB club and the student organization Rete della Conoscenza to explore the issues of transfeminism.
I worked on both the organization of the festival and the communication part, creating a coordinated image for Facebook events, Instagram posts, S5 flyers that doubled as a A3 poster and stickers.
November 2023 was a strong point in the feminist movement in Italy: a young girls was killed by her ex-boyfriend, but, contrary to the hundreds of other times, her sister was politicized and was able to channel to grief to inspire people. The demonstrations were huge, 500.000 people in Rome for the 25th of November and the recurring phrase was “If it’s me next time, If I don’t come home, burn it all”. My political organizations was already familiar with the poem and so we decided to use for this edition, because for the first time we felt like we could show our rage and not be seen as “those crazy feminists”.
So the central image became an adaptation of an illustration Alex Nabaum called “Global Warning”: a woman with a raised first emerging from the flames of a burning Milan. The visual was so strong and well received by the first people who saw it that it became the main element of the women’s rights month communication.
